Moving to SSES!
It was always my wish to teach in Shanghai and it finally happened in 2018. After 9 years in Nanchang, I finally had decided it was about time to move to another school and experience teaching at an IB school. Even I was hired at Maple Leaf Wuhan with higher salary, I chose to move to Shanghai because I always wanted to be here. I was working at Shanghai Shangde Experimental School. So many things have happened and so much to tell but I will only write some of my teaching experiences. At SSES, we got the chance to develop ourselves as lifelong learners and learn from our colleagues.
Math 10 at Diploma Programme
I was teaching Math 10 for one semester at the DP on my first teaching gig in SSES. It was short but it was worth even I was teaching extra classes aside from teaching Grade 7 MYP Science. The IB Math curriculum is developing and not as structured as I thought it would be. At Grade 12, they have a standardized testing which kinda stressed the teachers to teach for the exam and more textbook-based rather than inquiry-based learning. That made me not their typical kind of Math teacher but I had a great time during that time. Maybe because I just love Math.
Science Club at SSES
I was managing students in a Science club and they made accessories from dried insects and plants which was cool. We also made some ice cream and slime.

Teaching Grade 7s Science
Teaching Grade 7s Science was something I never thought I would do since I was hired to teach Grade 9 Science. Honestly, it's my first teaching experience teaching junior middle school students. My first two months was tough and stressful learning the IB framework and at the same time, adjusting how to manage the students who barely speak English except for one class. Eventually, I survived and I learned a lot on my first year. Teaching Science is not hard for me but it was hard for my students to understand me because of the language.
Physics 9On my second year at SSES, I was asked to teach Physics for Grade 9. I was ecstatic. It's more comfortable teaching students who have better English comprehension when it comes to teaching Science.
