I have been teaching for 15 years that I realized during this COVID pandemic era I should take a year off from teaching. I was very excited to take a new role in an international school in Hangzhou but due to travel ban, I could not go back to China on time. I did not try to look for another job and the school I'm supposed to work for have deferred the job for a year. So then I said, I will just wait for a year to work again and give myself a break. And I did! Right now I'm in Los Angeles, California trying to get my credentials evaluated as I plan to get a teaching certification from here and hopefully I can get a job here in the future. As I was observing my niece and nephew who are currently studying here, I feel like it would be a nice change of environment, I was actually accepted by an IB school in Texas but then my documents were not ready yet. While I'm here, I'll explore options, keep busy myself exploring ideas that can help my career prosper in the future. As of the time being, I'll take a deep breath, refresh my mind, and get ready for the next chapter of my teaching profession.

Does any of you feel like to design your own stuff with different creative fonts? I highly recommend this website: https://www.dafont.com/new.php?page=1 I came across this page when I was looking for font designs for my Adobe Elements App. It seems Adobe Elements has limited fonts so I decided to add and I downloaded from this website. Try it! It's super cool! Have a look with what I did few minutes ago! Hi there!
I have been writing recently some articles about project-based learning and I would like to feature it here. Then I realized that there's no section here that shows I've been doing something so I made this page as new section and at the same time, I'm creating new page for Science Corner. I will figure out in a couple of days what to include in it. Anyways, here's my latest blog from ASCD Edge: Creating Authentic Assessments for In-depth Learning Challenges in Teaching Math 10 in China I don't feel like being redundant and write and post the article here because I'm not sure if someone actually sees what I wrote here. Anyways, that's for today. Have a blessed Sunday xo It's always been my dream to be at a school that nurture their own teachers through professional development or having their own professional learning community. I'm not complaining about my school for not having this opportunity, it's just our employer doesn't want to spend money on this. For whatever reason she has, she only means business.
Anyways, I got a really good job offer yesterday, yay! It looks promising! I'll be joining the IB community. I always refer them as the "elites" of education system. Although I'm teaching with the elite students in our program, when it comes to resources and experience, we're still behind when it comes to 21st century learning. I'm very excited to be working in an IB school as MYP Science Teacher in Shanghai this August! A dream job come true! I've been waiting for this time to happen and sooner it will be realized. Plus, I get to teach Sciences which is as cool as Math ; ) I have already started planning the course even I haven't seen the course outline yet. I can't wait! I've always wanted to try new things and new responsibilities. After graduation, I'm looking forward to try what I learned and explore new challenges in teaching. One of these crazy ideas I had in mind is to install and implement iPad education in my program. Unfortunately, some things had changed for the last couple of months. This might be my last school year in Nanchang No. 2 High School.
Right now, I'm open to possibilities and opportunities that will let me pursue iPad education. If not, I would like to try teaching other courses or even different curricula in other schools. I can never be sure unless it's in front of me. So wish me luck in job hunting! Seven years ago when I first had my iPad, I got hooked into it. As a teacher, I became interested on the apps that can help me plan my lessons. After two years, I began introducing iPads apps to my students. I actually got my Apple TV and used it in class but then my school got us SEEWOO in 2015 so I stopped using for a year. I started using it again with my students as I asked them to store the electronic copy of their textbook to their iPads. I don't let them use their phones(too much distraction) or computers (too bulky and expensive). For two years I've been trying to come up a presentation for the stakeholders to consider every Grade 10s to have an iPad as an educational tool for Math and other courses. I had been very busy with overtime and my Master's that the plan halted. But now, I have it going. The first thing I have to do is communicate with someone from Apple Company. I wrote an email and to my surprise, somebody emailed me back. I was so happy. It gives me a joy and energy to push through my plan. My plan - every Grade 10s will get an iPad as they enter our program and will be using it as an electronic tool for textbooks, novels, simulations, calculations, and among other things that our Chinese students can greatly benefit from it. I'm so looking forward to make this one a reality. Fingers crossed.
Well, it's about time to write more about my teaching ideas. Graduation is over, I have fewer classes this school year, and I'm back on writing mood for good.
I'll use this page to write my thoughts instead using Blogger since I'm not eye-ing for fame and followers but of recording my own thoughts about teaching and how to do it better and more effective. I'm thinking of writing a lot about project-based learning in Math classes and how to manage it efficiently. Maybe I'll post as well templates and sample resources for other teachers to try or innovate. For now, I'll have to start drafting that topic LOL I don't think I'll stop maintaining this website once I'll finish my EDUC 5203 course. I have few days left before I'll hit the submit button for this assignment but it will always be a work in progress to me.
I'm never more confident than before. rest assured I'll continue my passion and collaborate with all inspired teachers out there! Soon! I realized how silly I was for taking a course in September, which is the start of a new term till tonight. I know I had been busy with school stuff plus overtime. After the first quarter, I can finally relaxed a bit and know exactly what I'm doing and focus on my assignments in Ed 5203 at last.
